Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to purchase electricity from India at the rate of Rs 38 per unit from Thursday night.
The NEA has decided to buy electricity from India even though it is expensive, saying that there is a problem in Nepal’s industry due to non-availability of electricity from India.

NEA spokesperson Suresh Bahadur Bhattarai said that the problem would be solved by purchasing electricity at Rs 20 from tonight.
He said that 7,000 MW of electricity will be imported and electricity will be provided to the industry from 12 noon tonight.

“Even if we buy expensively, there will be no load-shedding. We will not do load-shedding in any of the domestic customers, small or large industries. Rest assured, there will be no load-shedding,” NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising said.

Ghising said that there was a problem in Nepal due to the sudden rise in coal prices in India but it would be resolved.
