Bird flu was found again in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu: Bird flu has been found in Bhaktapur again.

Bird flu has been found in the chickens of Suwal Poultry Farm run by Jagat Laxmi Sujkhu in Suryabinayak Municipality-10.

Bird flu was found in two farms of Suryabinayak-10 last week.

Samples of Commercial Layers of Suwal Poultry Farm were tested at Central Livestock Disease Research Laboratory, Tripureshwor.

Chief District Officer Rudradevi Sharma said that the test resulted in the sub-type H5N1 of bird flu HPA-1.

Today’s meeting has decided to control and destroy the chickens, hens, and poultry products of the farm.

The decision to increase surveillance at all entry points of the valley including Bhaktapur district with the help of the Veterinary Services Department‍.

The meeting also requested the Department of Veterinary Services, Harihar Bhawan, to provide services to the employees and workers to be deployed for bird flu control as per the rules and to provide compensation for the destroyed materials for controlling the disease.
